\"old-438035_1280\"<\/a>It begins with \u201cWe the People<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Although written long ago in a different age, by a different generation, it is still the document which We the People<\/em> of the United States of America hold up as the foundation of our country.<\/p>\n

The United States Constitution.<\/p>\n

Three simple words.\u00a0 We the People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It embodies everyone who lives in America.\u00a0 We, those people, expect our government, whom We the People<\/em> elect, to represent us, to make just and fair laws to protect and serve us, to enact legislation that helps us.\u00a0 We expect all three branches of our government to work together with the ultimate goal of helping one group\u2026 We the People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

We hope beyond hope that Congress will work together.<\/p>\n

We dare to dream that a President can work with both sides of Congress.<\/p>\n

We yearn for a Judicial Branch that checks and balances and still maintains the principle that the government is there to serve us.<\/p>\n

To serve ALL for the betterment of We the People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

And yet\u2026.<\/p>\n

Our belief in freedom, in democracy, in a republic form of government, in America, seems to have waned from what we all hold true as our foundation; for who exactly are the people that we call \u201cWe\u201d?<\/p>\n

We the People<\/em> are not simply one group, one sex, one race, one belief.<\/p>\n

It should not stand for just \u201cWe the White People\u201d or \u201cWe the Black People\u201d or \u201cWe the Latino People\u201d or what have you.<\/p>\n

It has never been held up as \u201cWe the Male People\u201d or \u201cWe the Female People\u201d.<\/p>\n

By its very creation it was never meant to be \u201cWe the Democrats\u201d or \u201cWe the Republicans\u201d.<\/p>\n

It has always held true that separation of church and state meant it could not be \u201cWe the Christians\u201d, or \u201cWe the Muslims\u201d, or \u201cWe the Jews\u201d or – insert any other religion.<\/p>\n

How could it be then, that the people we call \u201cWe\u201d could be anything other than All.<\/p>\n

It cannot be \u201cWe the Heterosexuals\u201d, or \u201cWe the Married\u201d, nor \u201cWe the Single\u201d.<\/p>\n

‘We’ is inclusive, not exclusive.<\/p>\n

It is not \u201cWe the Rich\u201d or \u201cWe the Poor\u201d or \u201cWe the Middle Class\u201d.<\/p>\n

It is not \u201cWe the Privileged\u201d or \u201cWe the Forgotten\u201d.<\/p>\n

It never was and never will be \u201cWe the Intelligent\u201d nor \u201cWe the Less Fortunate\u201d nor \u201cWe the Simple Minded\u201d.<\/p>\n

It is We the People<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s all of us.<\/p>\n

It takes us all to make up this great and wonderful country.<\/p>\n

We may not agree or think alike; we may not have similar views or faith.<\/p>\n

We may come from different lands, from different backgrounds and some of us look, act, and speak differently.<\/p>\n

In the end, we are all still here.<\/p>\n

We are still the people who make up the WE.<\/p>\n

WE are not perfect.\u00a0 WE disagree, WE discuss, and WE challenge each other and engage each other; and while WE may have a long way to go in figuring out this way of living we have created and the complex governance that we constantly hope to improve, let us at least remember that it began because a group of people came together and said WE can do this. Yes, they lived in a different time and in a different culture of living.\u00a0 Just because their \u201cWe\u201d didn\u2019t include everyone, doesn\u2019t mean it can\u2019t now.<\/p>\n

Together we are stronger than we are apart, and together we can achieve something new\u2026\u2026\u2026 something better\u2026\u2026\u2026 something that begins with\u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026..We the People<\/em>.<\/p>\n
