{"id":2722,"date":"2018-01-01T09:06:15","date_gmt":"2018-01-01T16:06:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journeyinstitute.org\/?p=2722"},"modified":"2018-01-01T09:06:15","modified_gmt":"2018-01-01T16:06:15","slug":"dont-need-resolutions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devjourneyinstitute.com\/ji\/index.php\/2018\/01\/01\/dont-need-resolutions\/","title":{"rendered":"You Don&#8217;t Need Resolutions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s that time of year right?\u00a0 Time to make your New Year&#8217;s Resolutions!<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/dandiamond\/2013\/01\/01\/just-8-of-people-achieve-their-new-years-resolutions-heres-how-they-did-it\/#795af638596b\">FORBES<\/a> only 8% of people are successful in their New Years Resolutions.\u00a0 So maybe you don&#8217;t need Resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>Webster&#8217;s defines the word Resolutions in many ways, one of which is: &#8220;the act of determining&#8221;.\u00a0 Makes sense, and without questions being determined to achieve something is a great place to start.\u00a0 Having that &#8216;resolve&#8217; to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve is great&#8230; but it&#8217;s not enough.<\/p>\n<p>You need a plan.\u00a0 Saying, &#8220;I&#8217;m going to lose weight&#8221; or &#8220;I&#8217;m going to stop drinking&#8221; or &#8220;I&#8217;m going to quit smoking&#8221; is all well and good, and having a firm resolve, a determination to achieve your wish is fantastic but without a plan that&#8217;s all it is&#8230; a wish.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps instead of making your resolution about the end goal, perhaps you should resolve to put together a plan.\u00a0 Sit down and take at least as much time as you scroll through Facebook every day to map out HOW you&#8217;re going to make your wish come true.<\/p>\n<p>Here are 5 strategies you can use to help you:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Don&#8217;t try to do it all at once.\u00a0 Set a realistic goal for when you want your wish to come true.\u00a0 Something that you know you can do.<\/li>\n<li>Break it down into action steps you can take each day, each week, each month.<\/li>\n<li>Give yourself milestones.\u00a0 Set mini goals along the way that when you achieve them, when you hit that milestone, you have a mini celebration to keep you motivated.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t do it alone.\u00a0 Who do you know who has been successful at what you&#8217;re trying to do?\u00a0 Ask them to mentor you.\u00a0 Ask them for advice.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t reinvent the wheel, do research and arm yourself with all the various ways in which you can be successful.<\/li>\n<li>Most important of all WRITE IT DOWN!\u00a0 Don&#8217;t type it into your phone, tablet, or computer.\u00a0 Write everything down BY HAND.\u00a0 Write down your ultimate wish.\u00a0 Write down your time frame.\u00a0 Write down your milestones.\u00a0 Write down your plan.\u00a0 There is an immense power that takes place in your brain when you write something down with your hand, taking the time to form the words on paper.\u00a0 Try it, you&#8217;ll be surprised at how much of a head start it gives you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>So be determined, yes.\u00a0 By all means be resolute.\u00a0 But don&#8217;t just wish your dreams to come true, plan for them.\u00a0 As the saying goes, if you don&#8217;t know where you&#8217;re going, any direction will do, but even with a direction in mind, you still have to chart a course.<\/p>\n<p>Today is the first day of a brand new year.\u00a0 Take the time to chart the course for your year ahead and move firmly and confidently in the direction of your Dreams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s that time of year right?\u00a0 Time to make your New Year&#8217;s Resolutions!
