{"id":2551,"date":"2017-10-21T10:48:10","date_gmt":"2017-10-21T16:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/journeyinstitute.org\/?p=2551"},"modified":"2017-10-21T10:48:10","modified_gmt":"2017-10-21T16:48:10","slug":"who-to-trust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devjourneyinstitute.com\/ji\/index.php\/2017\/10\/21\/who-to-trust\/","title":{"rendered":"Who to trust"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s an interesting idea. \u00a0Ask questions to determine if you should trust someone&#8217;s advice.<\/p>\n<p>At least that&#8217;s what Eat, Pray, Love author Elizabeth Gilbert wrote on Oprah.com with\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oprah.com\/inspiration\/elizabeth-gilbert-how-to-figure-out-who-to-trust#ixzz4nav2T8pa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elizabeth Gilbert&#8217;s 4-Question Test to Know Whom to Trust<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure I buy it though. \u00a0(This coming from the guy who lives and breathes questions, I KNOW, right?)<\/p>\n<p>It even seemed a little contradictory when she says &#8220;Doing what you love \u2014 even if other people don&#8217;t like the end product \u2014 counts for something, too.&#8221;<br \/>\nSo, ask the four questions but if it&#8217;s something you love do it anyway?<\/p>\n<p>Sorry, I digressed a little.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, I&#8217;m all for asking questions to determine if the advice you&#8217;re being given is worth taking, but I&#8217;m not sure there are 4 magic questions that work for anyone and everyone.<br \/>\nThere&#8217;s nothing wrong, per se, in the questions Elizabeth Gilbert uses, but I think how one person determines the validity of advice can be drastically different for another and the same is true of the people giving the advice. \u00a0There&#8217;s far more to it than that.<\/p>\n<p>What do you think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s an interesting idea. \u00a0Ask questions to determine if you should trust someone&#8217;s advice.
