Julie Geller delivers her lyric-driven songs with honesty, clarity, and most of all, hope. The veins that run through Julie’s music are connection and courage. Connection, because her music makes us feel both a part of something greater and more in touch with our deepest selves. Courage, because her lyrics are about the struggle to develop into the people we know we can be.
If music is the heart of what Julie does, then storytelling is the soul. This comes across in her lyrics, live shows, and blog. By telling the stories of her own life – her sucesses and failures – as well as the stories behind her songs, there is a recognition of our shared humanity. That is the power of Julie’s music, and it is what makes her a riveting live perfomer.
Julie recently released her sixth album. She has been producing one new music video every month for over three years. Where do all the songs come from? In her own words, “It’s the sheer joy of creating, the exuberance of expressing something about being alive. Art moves us when it is real, not when it’s perfect. That’s what I focus on . . . getting to what’s most real.”
A graduate of Harvard University with a Certificate of Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory of Music, Julie is fearless in her drive to create and in her desire to help others through music. She was was invited to the White House in 2014 and was recently chosen as one of the Top 25 Women changing the world by Conversations Magazine. She lives in Denver, CO with her husband and three children.
